St. Gerard

This class is designed so that students get a greater understanding of the fundamentals of mathematics. The purpose of 7th Grade Math is to: review computation, explore the real numbers system, compute with rational numbers, investigate the laws of exponents, find percents, study geometric concepts, simplify and evaluate expressions, solve equations, develop and apply problem-solving skills, use a scientific calculator to explore mathematical concepts, and prepare students for future math courses. Upon successful completion of this class, students are placed into one of the three courses offered to 8th Graders: 8th Grade Math Foundations, 8th Grade Math, Algebra I.

I will not accept the excuse: "I didn't do my work because I didn't understand how to do it." You will have opportunities in class to ask questions. I would also rather you try and get the problem(s) wrong, than not try at all. I cannot help you learn and understand if you do not try. You can always make an appointment with me before school, during recess, and/or after school.
