ALGEBRA I

This class is designed for hardworking students who excel at and enjoy mathematics. The Honors Algebra I is an intensive study of algebra; the course covers more material, is more in-depth, has more homework, and moves at a much faster pace than Algebra I. The purpose of Honors Algebra I is to: solve equations and inequalities, determine and graph functions, solve and graph linear equation, solve and graph systems of linear equations and inequalities, use the laws of exponents, simplify and factor polynomials, solve and graph quadratic functions, simplify and solve exponential, radical, and rational functions, develop and apply problem-solving skills, use a graphing calculator to explore algebra concepts, and prepare students for future math courses. Upon successful completion of this class, students are typically recommended for                     Honors Algebra I AND Geometry/Honors Geometry at LCHS. This course is designed to cover all the material that will be assessed on the LCHS Bypass Mathematics Test; in order to be placed into Geometry/Honors Geometry at LCHS, a student must past both LCHS Bypass Mathematics Tests.
