ABOUT MRS. FELTS

MRS. FELTS

I am from a small town in south central Ohio called Wheelersburg. I have one brother, Patrick, who is finishing up his undergraduate degree at Ohio University in Sociology and Marketing. I attended The Ohio State University, where I earned a degree in Education with a specialization in Math and Social Studies for grades 4-9. I earned a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I also hold certification in Special Education.

My husband, Kyle, and I have been married for almost 14 years. We met in 2nd grade. We have two children, Kyle II (9 – 3rd Grader at St. Gerard) and Madison (3.5 years - PreSchooler at St. Gerard). We live in Holt and are parishioners of St. Gerard. My husband has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University and his professional career has taken us across the country and back.

I began teaching in 2004 in a small town in Georgia. I taught 7th grade then 6th grade mathematics at LaFayette Middle School for two and half years before moving to Tennessee. Upon moving, I became an Educational Consultant for the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I traveled around the state of Tennessee teaching teachers different strategies on classroom management, SWPBS, special education needs, etc. I missed the classroom tremendously, so I decided to head back in the fall of 2007. I taught 7th grade then 8th grade mathematics at Cherokee Middle School for four years before a teaching position became available at our parish school, St. Joseph School, where I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics for one year before moving to California. In 2013, I became a Director of Special Needs for the Diocese of Oakland and I had an office at Assumption Catholic School. My husband’s employer, Tesla Motors, moved us to another location in California, so I spent a year as a high school special education mathematics teacher at M.F. West High School. I am very happy to be back in junior high where I began my career. I look forward to a GREAT year and many more to come.

God bless,

Mrs. Felts
